studio Rental FAQS
What does my rental include?
All studio rentals include use of wifi, furniture, rolling walls, paper backdrops, sonos speakers sound system, restrooms, meeting room and client lounge access. Also, while our studio rental is an all inclusive rate for private use of the shooting bay and other areas, we do have a meeting room only rate if you are not planning to shoot and instead just meet with a client or work. Studio renters are welcome to help themselves to coffee, tea and water, however, your guests are not permitted in the kitchenette area. You may however bring outside food/snacks for your clients with permission from the studio.
Do you offer after hours availability?
Yes we do, however there is an additional fee of $50 per hour for bookings held between 5-8pm. This is due to cover evening staff and clean up that may be needed.
Do you provide any kind of studio lighting equipment?
Cityhouse is natural light studio and we currently feature a 12” x 12”north facing, glass garage door in our shooting bay. We also have high window lights that span across the top front wall of the building that provide additional light. Our walls are crisp and white and floors are a light concrete which also help to bounce all the light around. You can also use our 8” x 8”ft rolling wall as a reflector. If you do use lighting equipment please feel free to bring your own.
Does my time include set up and tear down?
Every 1 hr rentals must include set, up, tear down and cleaning.
What if I need more time?
Well this is the part you’ll need to make the best judgement call. The short answer to this question is book more time than you need if you’re not sure. While we can not guarantee availability, if we do have an empty block of time after your booking then we will be more than happy to accommodate you and extend your booking. Do note that bookings that go over their allotted time without a valid extension will incur an additional booking fee ($115 per hour) whether or not the space is being used the entire time. We will keep a cc on file and a payment will be drafted immediately should such an event occur.
You have no 2 hour minimums that is just bananas!
We thought so too, but we know you might need it! The studio can be rented in one hour increments which means there is more flexibility for those needing quick headshot sessions, meetings or client consultations. A big part of Cityhouse was created for photographers- by a photographer and that is what makes us so unique… because we so totally get it. But don’t forget! We also have bundled hourly discounts in our membership subscription option which gives you more exclusive access and priority in the space.
What is a studio Pass and how can I use it?
Studio passes (available 6/7/19 - 6/15/19 only) are a bulk of hours at a discounted rate.
Until supplies last
expires 12 months to date of purchase.
Monday - Saturday 9-5pm booking available.
Not applicable towards any Cityhouse styled sets or model sessions.
Hourly rental restrictions still apply for non-members.
Where do I park?
We currently have 4 assigned parking spots. 2 in the front of our suite and 2 in the back adjacent to the shooting bay. If you have a small event that requires additional parking, we have access to extra parking spots, however you must please contact us for more specific accommodations and it will be based on availability.
How do I enter the studio?
You will enter the studio via the front entrance and check in with staff. Someone will be available Monday- Saturday from 9am to 5pm for hourly renters.
Do you offer discounted hourly packages If I plan to use the space more frequently?
We thought you’d never ask! Cityhouse is designed as a membership based studio share and community workspace. If you plan to be here often then you might as well join the family! Memberships are a minimum 3 month commitment and give a better value over a la carte rental hours. All of our membership options also include pop-up coworking passes, opportunities for professional development, discounts on styled sets and shoot-outs, free networking mixers and so much more! Becoming a member of our shared space here at Cityhouse gives you the ability to have the benefits of a physical address for your business and a place to call “home”. You can read more about our collective membership options here
I work with a team member, do they also need a membership subscription?
Every membership subscription is a solo account only, with the exception of a full time membership subscription where a second person/business can be added on for a small monthly fee and share hours. This does not apply to those coming to assist or are participating in the shoots/events such as MUA’s assistance..etc..)
In a joint membership where two people are sharing hours to use their own, each individual person must go through the application process and pay an initiation fee separately.
Can I share my hours or sell them to someone else?
If you are not a full time member with a dual membership, hours can not be shared. More specifically, hours can never be sold or transferred. Our studio provides a product and that is time in the space sold by the hour to the public. Reselling of our product, is strictly prohibited. Studio members have exclusive discounted rates and they may not share or transfer their hours at that discounted rate to non-members
All renters using the space individually must go through standard booking procedures so that we are aware of who is occupying the space. If you wish to transfer your hours due to an unplanned circumstance please contact us directly so we can assist with the proper transfer procedure. Studio members have exclusive discounted rates and they may not share or transfer their hours to non-members
Can I host a styled shoot?
Yes, however styled shoots are booked as a special rate type in order to accommodate for multiple photographers and vendors using the space at one time.
can i bring pets?
Pets are permitted to those of clients being photographed only. There is a $25 pet fee- this is not paid by hour but instead for the length of all of your booking(s) in one day. We might have customers and guests that may be allergic, or as with pets “accidents” can happen *although you are responsible for clean up and any damages that could occur with having pets included. Overall, the pet fee ensures everyone is taken care of and things are cleaned and de-sanitized much more than our standard after your booking is over.
